A little sign from God goes a long way.

On Thursday morning, I drove my family car to SOC, where my sister would take over to continue her journey to her work.

It was around 6.25 am, and I felt rather awake compared to the previous mornings in the last week, despite having to wake up at 4.45 am for Sahur or a light meal before the beginning of fast. I was entering PIE (Tuas) from Tampines Ave 2 slip road, signalling right to change lane. Taking for granted that it usually has light traffic flow at that time, I felt a tinge of complacency in me. As I signal right to change lane, there was an oncoming bus, which was travelling at about the equal speed as me. Rather than slowing down to change lane, I decided to accelerate. But that was obviously the wrong move, cos in the next moment, I was jolted out of my senses when the bus let out a long 3 seconds horn.

On the rest of the journey, I kept pondering how close I was to being involved in an accident. Not only that, I perceived that close shave as a sign from God, reminding me that I shouldn't get complacent again. It also reminded me about the true reality of driving in Singapore. You may practise close to a hundred percent safe driving (not that I was doing that then), but that does not rule out a possibility of getting involved in a traffic accident. When that happens, it will definitely be due to some Singaporean with ego the size of Jupiter, who simply refuses to give way to you. Of course, it is unfair to generalise, undermining those who actually are courteous drivers. It is always nice to witness such encounters sporadically.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I received that sign from God which goes a long way for me =).

I feel rather lazy of late to conscientiously blog about serious stuffs that I've been wanting to talk about. Well, this time, it's about the STAR Cruise I went last week. It was definitely interesting and eye-opening, doing and seeing many things (which you're about to see in the photos) for the first time in my life. Feel free to post any comments! =)

Now, you must be wondering what that last photo is doing in this post. Or maybe assuming that I've uploaded the wrong picture. Well, no. And no, they were not on the cruise. (erm fyi, they're two of the main characters in Heroes, but I've no idea who they are. Haha) So here's how it went: After clearing the customs at the Harbourfront Centre, I was good to go, but decided to spend some time at Vivocity. I was only beginning to wonder why was there such a huge crowd on a weekday, when I saw the posters, banners and even the red carpet welcoming the stars from Heroes. So bored I was, that I decided to disguise as an avid Heroes fan and patiently await their arrival on the red carpet. After a wait of about 45 minutes, they came, along with top-of-the-lung screams from the fans (but me). So I got my camera ready and snapped a few pictures as they sashayed past. The above picture is apparently the best picture I managed to take. Haha. And I still do not know their names. Well, with so many people rating so highly for Heroes, I guess I should start watching it. =D

thoroughly enjoyable.

I'm referring to the Singapore Bay Run which I participated in last Sunday morning. My event was a non-competitive 12 km run, which has its starting point at the Esplanade Drive, stretches to Shenton Way, to ECP all the way to the Fort Road exit, then to Mountbatten, Republic Ave and finally to the finishing point at behind the floating platform. It was thoroughly enjoyable, soaking in the morning wind along the ECP, especially the upslope and the downslope between Rochor and Fort Road exit. Entirely shiok! (Salman, if you're reading this, I think you will understand me cos I've told you before that I feel like running down that stretch of ECP after Ophir slip road.)

i want out.

Well, here's a quick blog post, amidst my rather busy period.

Some people might know that I'm currently tutoring two kids, one of them being my officer's son and the other being the younger sister of my ex-gf. This blog title suggests more aptly for the latter.

The reason?

In situations where effort from different individuals is needed, it is best that everyone puts in more-or-less equal work in order to achieve whatever goals they set out for. You see, the reason I want out is that, I don't feel the other party is putting in as much effort or at the bare minimum keeping a mental note of the next tuition date and time. So you can imagine me going to her house, pressing the doorbell and the next thing I see is her looking perplexed. "EH? today meh?" Of course, I am not the type who would be straightforward enough to show my annoyance there and then. So I just said that I was tired (I really was, after the 12km Singapore Bay Run that morning) and I will sms her again soon and then walked off. How foolish I must have looked.

You see, I have been contemplating whether I should or whether I can continue tuition for her entire 2 years O level course. That made-me-look-stupid incident just affirms everything. Firstly, I have fresh plans after ORD. Secondly and more relevantly, I want the least to do with my ex. Lastly, I never want to make myself look stupid anymore.
